Job specifications: Mandela Hall and Union Bar

​

Bar Worker

  1. To assist customers in the bars by dispensing drinks and serving food.

  2. To ensure working and public areas are kept clean and tidy.

  3. To operate the EPOS/debit card terminals and be responsible for receiving payment for goods.

  4. To ensure goods and products for sale are continually replenished and displayed.

  5. To restock fridges and bottle coolers with due regard to stock rotation.

  6. To report any potential hazards to duty/line manager.

  7. To report any disorderly behaviour of customers to line manager/security personnel.

  8. To have familiarity with current legislation in the following areas as it pertains to the role:
    (a) Health & Safety
    (b) Licensing

  9. To promptly clear tables/counters of empty glasses and bottles.

  10. Periodic inspection/spot cleaning of toilet facilities and completion of the inspection sheet.

  11. Inspection and maintenance of floors during trading. Completion of venue inspection log.

  12. Be available to work in other units subject to operational requirements.

  13. Any other duties deemed reasonable by the manager, that may be required from time to time.

Event Steward

  1. To greet and welcome all customers and visitors to the One Elmwood building in a friendly manner while on duty.

  2. To assist the Bars & Entertainments Manager in ensuring that all conditions associated with the One Elmwood Entertainment and Liquor Licenses are complied with at events.

  3. To provide help, information and assistance to customers and guests on request.

  4. To be aware of any special needs of customers and guests and provide such assistance as may be required.

  5. To ensure that all areas used by customers and guests are kept clean and tidy at all times, and to regularly remove litter, empty bottles and glasses.

  6. To maintain a vigilant watch inside the licensed premises and to ensure that all patrons conduct themselves in an orderly and safe manner by reporting any issues to licensed door staff.

  7. To ensure that all public areas are clean and tidy, fire escapes and exit routes are clear from obstructions, cleaning and maintenance equipment and refuse.

  8. To report all security incidents, accidents and any other information to the Event Security Supervisor immediately and complete all relevant associated paperwork as soon as possible after an incident if requested to do so.

  9. To understand the One Elmwood Fire Plan and to assist supervisors in effecting a safe evacuation in case of fire or another emergency.

Door Supervisor

  1. To greet and welcome all customers and visitors to the One Elmwood building in a friendly manner while on duty.

Event Crew

  1. To assist the Production Manager in the technical delivery of the programme of live entertainment in Mandela Hall and Union Bar.

  2. To load in and out for live productions in Mandela Hall.

  3. To assist in setting up the Mandela Hall for a broad range of events.

  4. To set up equipment and staging for events in Union Bar.

  5. To respond to the various needs of event organisers/external production staff during their events.

  6. To assist with the maintenance of equipment and technical infrastructure.

  7. To operate live mixing desks and LX desks.

  8. To keep store rooms and back-of-house areas clean and tidy.

  9. To have familiarity with current legislation in the following areas as it pertains to the role:
    (a) Entertainment Licensing, particularly hours during which the business can have entertainment
