What are the Bar opening hours?

Mon-Sat: 11:30am til Late
Sun:  12:30pm til Late.

What time do you serve food from/until

Accepted Answer

During term time,* we serve a full pizza, fries and goujons menu from Monday to Thursday 11:30-22:00 and on Fridays from 11:30-20:00, while stock lasts.

On weekends we have a fresh panini menu available from 16:00-22:00, while stock lasts.

I left my wallet/coat/pet hamster behind in the bar last night, how can I get it back?

Accepted Answer

Come into the bar during normal opening hours and a member of staff will assist you.

Anything that is unclaimed at the end of term will be donated to charity, while small mammals shall be set free.

Question 4

Is the venue Wheelchair accessible?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we have a number of lifts and ramps. If you need assistance, our staff will be happy to help.

How much does it cost to enter your pub quizzes?

Our regular Tuesday and Wednesday quizzes are free to enter, but specialist quizzes run by clubs and outside promoters may incur a fee.

How much does it cost to play Trash Bingo?

Trash Bingo is FREE to play every Monday during term. We feel that this price is a good reflection of its worth.

Do you show football?

Accepted Answer

Yes, mainly we show the EPL, Champions League and international tournaments like the World Cup.

We also show some games from the American version. You know, the one with all the adverts, where the ball isn't round and they rarely actually kick it.

Are football tops allowed to be worn in the Bar?

Yes, but only during the screening of games.

If wearing a football top while not watching a game, we would advise you seriously reflect upon your wardrobe choices. Especially, if it has a player's name on it... it's a bar, not a school sports day.

Do you show international football matches and can we wear national football shirts?

Accepted Answer

Yes and yes. But the Union Bar is a shared space and we have zero tolerance for sectarian chants or bigotry of any kind, so keep it civil or we'll boot you out.

Can we wear shorts?

Absolutely. Jean shorts, sports shorts, chino shorts, spandex... they're all welcome!

Do you accept cash payments in the bar?

Accepted Answer

The Union Bar is cashless.  We only accept card and contactless payments via card, smartphone or smartwatch.

Do you have gluten free options for coeliacs?

Unfortunately, we currently don't have the ability to offer coeliac friendly food. We hope to remedy this in the near future.

Do you have Vegetarian and Vegan food options?

Yes, we do. Just check out our menu in the bar or online.

The bar prices were different today compared to last night. Why is that?

Accepted Answer

Our general bar prices are as low as you could hope to find in Belfast. But we also regularly run drinks promos that bring those prices down further for a set period of time.

Do I have to be a Qub student to work in the union?

Accepted Answer

A lot of our workforce is made up of QUB students, but this is not a requisite.

Question 17

Do you have Pool Tables?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we have 3 pool tables in the bar. You need to leave a form of ID with the bar to get cues.

Setting pints on the tables, dancing on them or using pool cues to act out scenes from Star Wars is not permitted. Like, why would anyone ever think it was? But yeah, we often have to point out the obvious.

Can I request songs from the DJ over instagram/facebook messages?

You may as well write them on a frisbee and fling them over a rainbow... Our DJs don't have access to the Union Bar facebook/instragram messages, and the people that do are probably asleep by midnight.  Our DJs are all really approachable and lovely, if you want to request a song, just ask them.
